Overview

The M4A1, on the whole, is an underused weapon, many prefer the FAMAS and SCAR-H, unlocked around the same time. The M4 is a very solid weapon all-round, with decent damage, accuracy and fire rate. It uses a new iron sight in MW2, a Ghost Ring which hasn't been used on it in real life yet. It is one of my favourite iron sights in MW2. It has 30-round mags default. It works well at most ranges, especially short to long range.

Attachments

Grenade Launcher- I won't include this in future Assault rifles guides (I will on the AK) as it's the same on every AR. FIres explosive grenades with good splash damage.

Red Dot Sight- A good choice on the M4 due to it's low recoil and minimal muzzle flash. The best choice when going for headshots.

Holographic sight- Probably my favourite attachment for the M4. Better for longer ranges due to the larger reticule.

Silencer- Reduces damage slightly, but a decent choice nonetheless. The M4 makes a good stealth class with silencer and Cold-blooded. I like to use Bling and combine the RDS with the silencer.

ACOG sight- Increases recoil when using ADS, not too bad if you just tap the trigger, otherwise quite difficult to use.

Thermal SIght- Like the ACOG, fire single shots or short bursts at the most. No real reason to use it apart from maps with alot of grassland or poor visibilty.

FMJ- A solid choice on the M4A1, I got extended mags at Rank 19 this prestige with the M4A1, a real nice gun to wallbang with due to the good iron sights and low recoil.

Extended Mags- A useful attachment with Scavenger, good for holding down the trigger and racking up a large spray-killing spree. No need to reload so often.

*Heartbeat Sensor*- I will only mention this once for the same reason as the GL. Enemies appear as red dots accompanied with a 'bleep' sound, friendles appear as green without a 'bleep'. NOTE: Enemies using Ninja won't appear on a heartbeat sensor. Good combined with the silencer.
